The corner of Lohman and Boggy Ford has been maintained by KLVB since the early 1990's. Long time resident Cookie Brittain began by spreading Bluebonnet Seeds here, hand carrying water in kitty litter buckets to ensure they bloomed. Over the years, it became a springtime spectacular photographic destination for Lago Vista families. In 2012, Richard Brown and Mike Leitko built a stone planter for firecracker ferns and the KLVB Beautification Sign. However, due to lack of irrigation, planting was minimal. Still the area continued to catch the eye every spring with the profusion of Bluebonnets.
In 2020 progress arrived at the intersection with a new convenience store and retail center. The developer built an attractive stone wall and sidewalk on the site and the city provided water, making landscaping improvements to the area possible.
With the recommendations of Mike and Margaret Leitko, stewards of the Spot, KLVB members voted to allocate funding in 2021 for Phase One of beautification, which includes extensive soil improvement, plantings, and a wind chime theme. KLVB invites you to visit this area and add your own wind chimes in the trees.
